Another New Website
I’ll confess, creating my own websites has always seemed a better idea in theory than in reality. I attended a WordPress training to design websites many, many years ago.
Then I built my own website, and then another. And after creating them, I pretty much ignored them. When I had a new book release, I’d kinda, sorta update it. But if you ever visited the old website, you could see I didn’t put much energy into keeping it up to date.
Recently, several things happened. After many years of staying with the same hosting company, I decided to move to a less expensive site. Since I don’t need a lot of the features they offered, and because I knew I wanted to do an updated design.
That’s when the real fun started. I had been trained to use Divi as a WordPress website “builder” but I discovered a lot of things had changed! There was something called a “Divi Builder” that incorporated AI. I wasn’t sure how it would work out, but I decided to take it for a test drive.
I have a fun way of describing how I use new technology, “I love tech, but tech does not love me back.” This means that I’m often willing to try new things, but my learning curve can be like driving on a dangerous road. When someone tells me it’s “intuitive” I get a chill. I’d like to think I have a large store of “women’s intuition” but it doesn’t seem to apply to learning new technology. I slog through it.
Thank goodness for YouTube videos, Divi training and a willingness to make mistakes. The undo button is my friend! I finally managed to get my design together, and you’re seeing it.
Watch this site, because as I learn how to use more elements, I’ll be making changes. Wish me luck!
